This weekend I backpacked in the Desolation Wilderness next to Lake Tahoe, and summited Mount Tallac, an absolutely gorgeous vista point overlooking both. Highly recommended - this route has a lake every mile or so!I ditched my sleepy campmates to summit Tallac at sunrise, in honor of Paul Kalanithi, who said that exact sight was one of his absolute favorites. It was a downright spiritual experience for me - no wonder religions love telling you to fast and climb mountains to achieve enlightenment.In other news, I've been experimenting with filling my calendar completely with timeboxes allocated for the tasks on my todo list, and then editing the events at the end of the day to match reality. See last week's example below.I learned of this 'complete calendar' technique while writing the Habitual Hustler, but always recoiled at the thought because I knew my life would never match the plan. The breakthrough trick for me was creating the plan only the morning of - then it helps me prioritize and think about my day. It's fun!
