#422 - the Irish Troubles' source, an anthropomorphic bitcoin, and Twitch vs Youtube
I watched two incredible movies ranked 96% on Rotten Tomatoes lately:
'71 - a must watch if you enjoyed the WW1 movie 1917, with a similar premise of a single British soldier stranded in Belfast during the Troubles riots and has to find his way back home.
It taught me a lot about the Troubles, too - turns out it all stems from 1609 when England defeated local Gaelic leaders and imported Protestants into the exact counties that now unsurprisingly voted to comprise Northern Ireland.
Riders of Justice (Danish: Retfærdighedens Ryttere) - From a famous Danish director who I'm now keen to watch more of, do yourself a favor and don't watch the bland spoilery trailer for this Mads Mikkelsen led action comedy and go in without knowing anything other than it's a military husband's quest for justice against a biker gang.
Laughs, thrills, perfect comedic timing, and a thoughtful Scandinavian ennui underlying the whole thing - the best foreign movie I've seen since Parasite.

The Twitch & YouTube War Explained — www.youtube.com
I've been binging this streamer Atrioc lately - something about his on screen charisma, coupled with his insanely active Twitch chat, coupled with his keen business knowledge applied to the gaming world, hits just right.
Here he breaks down how Twitch and Youtube are warring for dominance as the streamer platform of choice, in what could be taught in business school.

Introducing Cryptoland — twitter.com
“an up-and-coming crypto scam—er, project—has managed to dunk on cryptobros better than any satirist i've seen so far, with one of the most painful-to-watch youtube videos i've seen in a while. join me in hell as we watch this together: https://t.co/m6ptLfU1jU”
Twitter breaks down the 'so earnest it must be fake but its not' CGI video introducing a crypto funded tropical island project, complete with an anthropomorphic bitcoin, talking Lamborghini's, and a complete lack of self awareness. Truly mind boggling.
in this house we believe yard signs
Turns out there are lots of variants of those 'in this house we believe black live matter' etc color coded signs.
The conservative ones are telling in what they say, and don't say (just like the original), and the joke ones hilarious, and the libertarian and YIMBYist ones are ripe for parody.
INXS - Suicide Blonde - Live Baby Live — www.youtube.com
I grew up on INXS, so maybe it's just me, but the energy of this live performance at Wembley Stadium in front of 72,000 fans in 1991 hits the same as that Metallica Moscow performance and Queen at Live Aid - incredible audience/performer transference!
