I’m back again from the secret immersive art festival that first awakened my inner clown, where this year I brought a six person foot massage glory hole experience, where we had people get anonymously massaged with toys and such, and then flipped the script to have them give a massage to the next group of people.
It was a great success and reminded many people how great it feels to have your feet pampered. :)
Loyal reader Andrew Dunn just started a wisdom school for founders, offering a virtual Summer Cultivator of organizational development basics, and an IRL Wise Innovation camp, to gather likeminded fellows for deep time in Mt Shasta.
Andrew’s writings and and words guided my own startup journey at Reciprocity, so if you’re starting something new, I definitely recommend connecting with him.
Technology
The GTM tool Clay is rebranding the ‘growth hacker’ of ten years ago to today’s LLM empowered ‘GTM engineer’, which is a term I have seen on the job boards I frequent. A memetastic breakdown of how the modern hacker operates and what tools they use follows.
ICE is sadly cracking down on immigrants nationwide, and this crowdsourced map lets one anonymously report ICE officers in their area.
This comprehensive report on the ties between Silicon Valley and the Defense industry puts facts to something we probably already knew. Of namebrand tech companies, only Apple, Facebook, and Twitter don’t deal with the DoD.
Ideologies
Sam Altman is 40 now, but published this ‘days are long but decades are short’ musing ten years ago on his 30th birthday, and say what you will about the guy as OpenAI head and businessman, but he’s one perceptive dude, and I think most of these aphorisms stand the test of my own aging life. Life is not a dress rehearsal!
Climate Town has another banger out on Big Dairy in America. In Reagans time there was literally so much subsidized dairy being produced that they stored it in giant cheese warehouses and gave it out as a welfare good! I also didn’t know those ‘got milk?’ ads were government sponsored.
I just found this Youtuber BlueJay that does hastily animated terminally online humorous explainer videos on things like the history of Coca Cola (and whew boy, talk about evil capitalists!)
Yet again my silly game streamer Atrioc somehow has one of the most thoughtful and well sourced videos breaking down current political events - here on ICE crackdowns.
He thinks Trump is doing this to distract from the economy, given 98% of Republicans support him on immigration, unlike every other policy of his right now which is under 50% approval. Also, Grok is giving false explanations to twitter users so here we are in the post-truth AI explainer era already.
Memes
Dream Park is an augmented reality activation for Santa Monica that overlays Mario esque platformer enemies and visuals on the IRL street. I see Main Street USA’s ‘coat the street with turf for pedestrians only’ during COVID times and raise you this!
The Balloon Museum in SF looks like something more than a selfie museum, and yet less than a TeamLabs esque immersive environment.
This Cofounders musical about a Black female founder from Oakland trying to make it in Silicon Valley with Oakland style hiphop beats looks like a winner.
