I spent the last two weeks in Athens, the Saronic Islands, and the Dolomites. Tips:
Athens:
Comprehensive Athens/islands Greek guide from a local here.
The Clumsies bar is one of the top in the world and tastes as such.
There is not much left of the Acropolis but it’s still worthwhile. Check it out in its prime in this video.
Saronic Islands:
Hydra, Spetses, Aegina, and Poros are all delightful port towns you’ll likely visit on any yacht trip.
Spetses was used as the billionaire island in Knives Out: Glass Onion.
Dolomites:
Lake Garda is absolutely stunning and cheaper than Lake Como. Malcesine and Sirmione are fairy tale perfect with castles to boot.
San Martino di Castrozza was gorgeous and cute, big Alpine vibes in Italy.
Cortina di Ampezzo hosted the Olympics, has many via ferratas with WW1 trenches and tunnels, and will host it again soon. This site is a good resource on local ferratas.
Technology
AI accelerator HF0 now invests a cool $1M in their founders, and applications for the current batch close this Sunday. What a deal!
Ideologies
Many of my non astrological believing friends are big believers in the Enneagram, which purports to base its classifications on rational elements other than your birthday. I’m told I’m a 7 and the description rings true, but then, don’t all the descriptions of such things sound like a fit?
Memes
Tim Minchin is a talented tortured genius who composes orchestral pieces about mundane topics, like God supposedly curing cataracts.
This preposterously NSFW rap song about a guy’s dick is quite catchy.
Check out the poise and rhythm on these male hula dancers!
NPH had a great Tony opener in 2011 ‘broadway - not just for gays!’
This punchy Italian disco song from the 60s is my new fave:
