#453 - Chicago tips, the original Epcot, and immersive clubbing
After 10 days in Chicago, here's all I can recommend:
The Chicago Magic Lounge was the standout highlight with 3 types of magicians - at your cabaret table, on stage, and at the bar. Truly one of a kind place.
The Architecture River Tour was also worth it, all the better if you can get it on a Navy Pier fireworks day. They boat through downtown and tell you about all the buildings.
The Morton Arbotoreum was a worthwhile suburb detour if you enjoy beautiful plants from around the world
Novel barsteraunts: Puttshack, with tech enabled mini golf, and Whirlyball, lacrosse played in bumper cars.
This group of Chicago burners throws good parties often
Obviously visiting Second City improv, and eating Lou Molinari's deep dish pizzas, are Chicago must-dos
Apparently the Signature Lounge is a good way to get skyscraper top views without shelling out for the $40 Skydeck experience
The King Spa and Sauna is a unique Korean megaspa I didn't make it to.
Erik Larson's Devil in the White City is a great nonfiction drama read about the 1893 Worlds Columbian Exposition that put Chicago back on the global stage after burning down 20 years earlier. (Fun fact - thats why Chicago is cleaner than NYC - cuz the fire let them start over and plan for alleyways to store trash!)

Defunctland: Walt Disney's City of the Future, E.P.C.O.T. — www.youtube.com
Fascinating mini documentary about Walt's original plans for Epcot as an entire city. This stuff was far out, and we likely can still learn from it in urban planning!
Too bad it failed cuz he wanted to be its dictator....

I attended an El Row stage at a festival this weekend, and man, is it something else!
They have decadent decorations, confetti cannons and custom pool toys, and performers on stilts that come out ever half hour to dance around you and feel in the thick of the madness.
