#450 - Harbin, nerdy dating strategies, and actual raver children
I finally visited Harbin Hot Springs this weekend, the famous hippie hot sprints two hours north of SF that sadly burned to the ground in 2015 in a fire and has been slowly rebuilt.
It definitely felt like a place that was once special, and now feels more like a recovering warzone, but that the community is still willing to show up and continue making it special. And it does have the basic facilities and trees again. Nothing like the pastoral wonderland it looked like before the fire though.
I also finished The Traitor Baru Cormorant, which was a wonderful fantasy read thats 'aware' without being 'woke', examines the concept of empire with weight for its pros and cons, and has realistics economic models in its fantasy world.
The characters are little two dimensional, but the world is worthwhile.
