#447 - SD wedding, beyond War analogies, and childrens choir pop
I spent the weekend in San Diego at a dear friends delightful wedding.
This is my third friend wedding and I'm noticing all the repeating elements: not much time with the bridge and groom, nervous bonding with the few other folks you know there, and lots of adorable in law children. Gotta love the innovations like gender reveal pinatas though (shes pregnant woo!)
Afterwards I had a free day so I went to the Comic Con museum since its next weekend (honestly not worth it, $30 for has been comic series), the model train railroad museum (totally worth it, apparently America's largest public model train area!) and then crashed their Pride festival to see the Gen Z bratty trap shock rapper chanteuse that is Ashnikko.
I also finished Balaji Srinivisan's new free book The Network State, about the future of blockchain backed startup societies entirely within my butt, which was quite an intriguing read, if not entirely believable. Expect a full Takeaways blog post soon!

Why long-term plans don't work and how to fix them
I feel like a post like this makes Hacker News every few months. They all have pretty new graphs and rationales though. And this one has potential solutions - remember agile, hit obstacles, replan, repeat!

An Alternative to Sports and War Analogies | Simon Sinek — www.youtube.com
Business likes to use sports and war analogies, but since those are finite games with winners and losers, they aren't accurate. Instead, find infinite game analogies like those in relationships to reflect the fact that you can learn from your competitors and both win, etc.
Love it. Now where's that handy list of war analogy alternatives blog post I found a few years ago? tsk tsk.
