#433 - VR DJ Class, Anarchy's Matron Saint, and hard-earned coliving wisdom
I socialized for 50 hours this weekend nonstop with only sleep and eat breaks, which has become a trend. 😳 Bay area is back, baby!
I try to share such events on my newsletter but many are private and not mine to share! Here's some public ones this coming weekend though.
I also attended an Idle No More Native American hosted workshop about how non-natives can work with natives towards justice, which didn't exactly teach me how to do that yet, but definitely gave me ideas and research and mindsets to work in that direction :). Check it out!
Also also, the Free Guy movie was well worth a watch - Hollywoods take on gamer culture a la the Truman Show. And Steven Soderbergh's Kimi movie was also great - a taut claustrophobic thriller about a Siri community moderator who discovers a murder in audio logs.

TribeXR DJ in VR — www.tribexr.com
Learn how to DJ in VR on top of the line equipment, for only the price of an Oculus Quest. I wonder what other 360 degree learning experiences could teach as such?
Balaji S. Srinivasan: The Network State - Foresight Institute — foresight.org
Much ado has been made of this concept in certain circles, rendering nation states obsolete in the 'cloud computing' cities of the future, and this upcoming book from the Valley bad boy will delve deep into it.
I've heard Estonia is already doing this - their IDs are crypto wallets.

Emma Goldman — en.wikipedia.org
One of the OG names in anarchy had quite a life - born in Russia, emigrated to America, involved in the failed assassination of a robber baron, cited as the inspiration for Prez McKinley's assassin, deported for supporting birth control, fled the USSR when their revolution proved false, and died in Canada as a global icon.
Sure makes you appreciate all the rights we have today, to hear about the folks who had to fight and die and get arrested to make them happen. Reminds me of that labor movement bumper sticker 'from the people who brought you weekends' 😅
Book Review: Empire of the Summer Moon — web.archive.org
Slate Star Codex's old review of this nonfiction book I've read about Comanches vs Texans was a fun read - he noticed different things than I did upon reading.
What we both noticed, though, was that kidnapped white kids didn't wanna return to 'civilization' when given the chance, while kidnapped Indians always wanted to return to the tribe. And that both sides broke every made up treaty and committed major atrocities against one another. :(

Ludimus Community House — www.youtube.com
This co op in LA is looking for housemates and what I love most about it other than their stellar Nerf gun wall is how much thought has gone into what they convey about the house, expectations, and questions they ask to screen.
This clearly ain't their first rodeo - any co op could learn from their phrasing.
